The charming, historic towns and villages of the Blackall Range are dotted with galleries, fashion boutiques and shops selling crafts, pottery, antiques and gifts. You could snuggle up in front of an open fire in a cosy B&B, warm up with a hot chocolate in a mountain cafe or savour the fresh fruity palette of a local wine at a winery cellar door.
The drive from Maleny to Mapleton, through Montville and Flaxton, is one of the most scenic on the Sunshine Coast with jaw-dropping views of the coastline.
You could go bushwalking or bird-spotting in Mapleton National Park where the spectacular cascade of Mapleton Falls tumbles off the western escarpment of the Blackall Range into the Mary Valley. Or explore the walking trails through the lush rainforests of the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve in Maleny. The Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk is 58 kilometres of trails that traverse scenic areas of the hinterland through Maleny Forest Reserve, Kondalilla National Park and Mapleton Falls National Park. Tempt your tastebuds with the delicious local produce served fresh and best in one of the many quality restaurants along the Range or for a shorter bite choose a stylish café. While you feast savour the wonderful views available from the mountain.
So if you’re looking to be enchanted by the positive vibrations of the mountains, look no further than the Blackall Range.
